Reality star Efe Money recently shared his thoughts on why musicians who have appeared on the Big Brother Naija show tend to face challenges in the music industry after the show.
During a conversation on ‘Trending‘ with Hip TV, Efe Money expressed his observations regarding the difficulties faced by former housemates who pursue music careers after the reality show.
Efe Money, who emerged as the winner of the 2017 edition of Big Brother Naija, pointed out that the audience that follows the reality show differs significantly from the regular music enthusiasts.
This disconnect according to him, has made it challenging for past housemates who transition into music to establish a loyal fan base beyond the show’s viewers.
“The reality TV audience is almost totally different from the music audience. The reality TV audience are passive consumers of music. They enjoy lifestyle and drama…while the active music consumers are totally different,” Efe Money tells Trending. “When you go to reality TV, they just want to see you for your drama, fine clothes, who you’re dating. They have less interest in your music,” Efe said.
Despite the hopes of using the platform to boost their music careers, many musicians who have been part of the Big Brother Naija show have struggled to make a successful transition.
Even winners like Laycon and Whitemoney, who won victorious the 2020 and 2021 editions, have faced challenges in gaining widespread recognition for their musical endeavors.
Past housemates such as Bryann, Vee, Uriel, Avala, Groovy, and Soma have also found it difficult to establish themselves in the music industry after leaving the Brother Naija house.
