Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has stirred up a storm on social media with his new single “Brag,” where he directly targets Nigerian artists Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy.
The controversial track, unveiled on Friday, May 10, caught the attention of Nigerians as Sarkodie unabashedly boasts about his accomplishments and asserts his influence in the African music scene.
In a bold move, he claims credit for setting the stage that others have followed.
Specifically, Sarkodie highlights his early success at the O2 Arena in 2016, asserting that he paved the way for Nigerian music stars Davido and Wizkid, who also later performed at the renowned venue.
He boldly proclaims to have established the blueprint that these artists have since built upon.
Not stopping there, Sarkodie also places Grammy Award-winning Nigerian musician Burna Boy and rising Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif in the same league as himself.
In a pointed lyric from the song, he raps;
“Wizkid came, I was already doing it, Davido started, I was improving it, then Odogwu came through Black Sherif & Asake.”
