DStv and GOtv customers have been told to anticipate three days of “technical downtime” for their services.
In a notice posted on its official X handle on Friday, May 3, DStv stated that this downtime was necessary due to the ongoing Lagos-Calabar coastal road construction.
Multichoice, the pay-TV operator, explained that the project requires them to relocate from their office location between May 5 and May 7, 2024.
They assured customers that efforts would be made to minimize disruptions during the relocation.
It stated:
Expressing gratitude to customers for their patience and understanding during this period, the company reiterated its commitment to delivering the quality service and support that DStv and GOtv customers expect.
The company assured customers that its services would soon be restored to an improved state while advising them to reach out to its call centre or visit its websites for assistance, inquiries, and updates.
It would be recalled that Multichoice, the owners of DStv and GOtv, recently announced another price hike for its subscription packages, which was expected to take effect from May 1, 2024.
While Nigerians protested the price hike, MultiChoice explained that the rise in the cost of business operations led to the difficult decision.
In related news, TimesNow.com.ng reported that a Competition and Consumer Protection (CCP) Tribunal had restrained Multichoice from increasing its DStv and GOtv subscription packages.
The three-member tribunal gave the interim order following an ex-parte motion moved by Ejiro Awaritoma, counsel for the applicant, Festus Onifade.
In the ruling, the tribunal restrained Multichoice from proceeding with the impending price increase, pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice filed before it.
It, therefore, directed all parties in the suit to appear before the tribunal on May 7 at 10 am for the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
